If you’ve always wished there was a summer camp for adults, get ready to check out the ultimate festival this month. The Narrow Group and The Festival Company have teamed up to bring a three-day ‘SummerCamp Festival” for adults to Jonathon Rogers Park in Vancouver, as well as Okanagan Lake Park later this summer.

Camp-goers can expect to immerse themselves in summer camp nostalgia, from dancing to live throwback hits from the 80s and 90s to playing classic summer camp games like tug-of-war and water gun fights.

And because this summer camp is geared towards adults, there will be a beverage garden by Steamworks Brewing where guests can sip on their favourite local brews and play ‘bevy pong.’

According to organizers, the festival is “free to attend,” with donations accepted that will go towards supporting youth mental health initiatives via Lifted Organization.

“SummerCamp Festival grew out of our goal of creating an event which would let grown-ups be free, fun, and creative like kids, even with their kids,” says Billie Jo Aasen of The Festival Company. “We’ve brought all the best things about summer days—music, games, food—made them adult-sized and dropped into one place.”

In terms of food, guests can expect to enjoy southern-style BBQ among the following tasty food vendors:

  • Kona Ice of Chilliwack
  • Slothfuls by Teapressu
  • Good Dog’s Plant Food (VEGAN)
  • Japa Dog
  • Booster Juice
  • Prairie BBQ
  • Grizzly BBQ
  • Gator BBQ
  • Smoke Dem Bones
  • Boss Hogg BBQ

The Vancouver iteration of the festival will take place at Jonathon Rogers Park from Friday, June 21st to Sunday, June 23rd.

Note that the festival is child-friendly, though pets are not permitted.

So no matter which part of summer camp was your favourite – the food, the activities, the tunes, or the all-around feel-good vibes, know that there’s something nostalgic in it for you!

And if you never got the chance to attend one growing up, it’s never too late to unleash your inner child.

Enjoy, Vancouver!
