Alberta has a mountaintop boardwalk that offers an incredibly scenic view

Banff is a beautiful destination from its ground level, but have you seen it from above?

High on Sulphur Mountain, you’ll find one of the most scenic boardwalks in Wild Rose Country – a wooded trail that offers an incredible view of the trees, wildlife, and the townsite below.

A tranquil route 7,500 feet from its base, the Alberta boardwalk leads to a historic weather station that was once used by Norman Sanson – a meteorologist who walked to the top of the mountain every week for 30 years until he was 84 years old.

From fun facts to old photos, this beloved walkway is littered with interpretive signs and is described as “relatively easy and suitable for visitors of all ages and fitness levels.”

Want to see the world from a whole new POV?

No matter the season, a clear day will give adventure-seekers something to write home about – but you’ll have to get there first!

Those who would like to see it for themselves can either choose to hike 5.5 km upwards or take a gondola ride to the summit, but don’t look down!

Step by step and stair by stair, there really is no place quite like it, especially when there’s sun in the sky, so check it out!

Of all the boardwalks in Alberta, this is one of the best.

Happy walking and enjoy!
