Although a mostly residential community, Lions Bay in British Columbia is a must-visit for its picturesque, sandy beaches. So as the weather continues to heat back up, consider this a solid go-to destination on the weekends you’re feeling more spontaneous!
The charming seaside village is situated on the eastern shore of Howe Sound, the southernmost fjord of the northern hemisphere. According to the Village of Lions Bay, its name comes from the twin peaks visible across the Lower Mainland, which tower over the community.
The village’s steep slopes are home to some of the most popular trails and scenic vistas in the Lower Mainland, which can be enjoyed at three public parks: Kelvin Grove Beach Park, Lions Bay Beach Park, and David & Tom Wade Memorial Park.
All three boast pristine, sandy beaches, perfect for a day of lounging, beachcombing, and swimming!
