Every child deserves nutritious food, period.
But despite making up only 20% of the population, children accounted for 33% of the nearly 2 million food bank visits per month in Canada last year. 2023 also marked the highest year-over-year surge in food bank visits ever.
It’s a staggering reality that no child should have to face.
To combat these startling numbers, Subway Canada is back this October with its Never Miss Lunch program, which supports Food Banks Canada by providing funding for food packs to kids in need across the country, while addressing the growing issue of food insecurity.
This year also marks the 5-year anniversary of Subway sponsoring Food Banks Canada through the Never Miss Lunch Program. Together they’ve delivered over 710,000 food packs to hundreds of communities since its inception. That’s a lot of lunches!
This season of giving, Canadians can participate in the Never Miss Lunch program and help give back to the community. Oh, and did we mention that there are cookies involved?
Here’s the easy part: Visit a Subway restaurant near you and buy one (or two!) of Subway’s delicious cookies on October 16. Save that date and don’t forget!!!
One dollar from each cookie sold will be donated to Food Banks Canada to help fight childhood food insecurity.* This year’s ambitious goal is to distribute 215,000 food packs to kids across 235 Canadian communities, and every cookie helps!
How will you participate? Be the office hero by bringing a box of sweet treats for your colleagues. Surprise your long-distance bestie with a sweet delivery right to their door. Or take the family out to a Subway supper with cookies for dessert. Whatever floats your boat and tickles your sweet tooth.
Gather your friends or family, dig into some sweet treats, and get ready to support a great cause. After all, kids should have kid problems, not hunger problems.
