Did you know there’s a park in Ontario that soars around 95 feet above the ground? Yep! The St. Thomas Elevated Park is the first and only elevated park in Canada and not only does it hold a unique title, but it’s also a prime spot to check out fall foliage this season.
The park is lined with trees and as you walk the trails you can take in all the sights of autumn.
The St. Thomas Elevated Park is open seven days a week from dawn to dusk so picking a time and day to visit is easy.
The park can be found in St. Thomas, Ontario around 2 hours by car from Toronto and 30 minutes by car from London, Ontario.
As for parking, there is plenty of street parking on Centre Street and at the Jumbo Memorial, just half a block north on Talbot Street.
This massive space used to be a railway but today, it is now a 30-foot-wide and 850-foot-long park with flower beds, trees, benches, public art and a trail for walking, running and biking.
The park is situated over Kettle Creek Valley, a spot that once stood as a railway, abandoned in the mid-1990s. T
To preserve the history of the structure the area was turned into an elevated park, which opened in 2019.
Autumn is an ideal time to visit St. Thomas Elevated Park! According to the area’s tourism page, the spot boasts “incredible fall foliage views, public art, and beautiful sunsets”.
The spot is family-friendly, and four-legged friends are allowed in the area, too.
Art lovers can bask in the art that fills the park, all pieces donated by local artists which have been installed along the park over the years.
Your fall walks just got a whole lot more interesting, Ontario!
