10 great ways to spend St. Patrick’s Day in Vancouver this year

It must be the luck of the Irish, because St. Patrick’s Day is coming to Vancouver this month! On March 17th, you’ll be able to enjoy a wide variety of fun activities around the city, from family-friendly festivals to some more, uh, adult-oriented options. Let’s see what’s out there!

Here are some great ways to spend St. Patrick’s Day in Vancouver this year.

CelticFest Vancouver

It’s only fitting we kick off this list with a major festival. From March 16th to 20th, enjoy a wide variety of activities, events and concerts. There’s some stuff going down for St. Patrick’s Day proper, but maybe wait until the weekend for the big stuff.

When: March 16th to 20th
Where: Locations around Vancouver
Cost: Free!

The Blarney Stone

Next up, the St. Patrick’s Day Festival at The Blarney Stone! This iconic Irish pub in Gastown will be hosting both indoor and outdoor activities for people wanting to make the most of the day. And we say day, because things kick off at 9AM and will last until 2AM.

WISE St. Patrick’s Day

Having just recently reopened, this East Van staple is already gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day in Vancouver. Enjoy The Pogues tribute band Shane’s Teeth, alongside some special guests, as you drink and eat the night away.

When: Thursday, March 17th
Where: 1882 Adanac Street

Mahony’s Tavern

Both the False Creek and Downtown locations will be transforming for the big day! Expect some fun decorations, live music, and of course, some green beer to go with it all day long.

When: Thursday, March 17th
Where: 601 Stamps Landing and Burrard Landing
Cost: Free with reservation

Dublin Crossing

While exact details have yet to be revealed, this spot at Marine Gateway is gearing up for a big day. So, keep your eyes peeled via social media for the full lineup of fun to be had.

When: Thursday, March 17th
Where: 466 SW Marine Drive
Cost: TBD

The Irish Heather Shebeen

In the same vein, the new location of this beloved Irish bar should also be offering a wide variety of St. Patty’s specials. Even if they don’t, you can still expect an amazing offering of authentic Irish food and a focus on Irish whiskies to enjoy.

When: Thursday, March 17th
Where: 248 E Georgia Street
Cost: TBD

Donnellan’s Irish Pub

A classic pub downtown, Donnellan’s has confirmed that they’ll be hosting a St. Patty’s Day celebration all day long! Head down early for some afternoon fun, or swing by after work to sink a few suds with your pals.

When: March 17th
Where: 1082 Granville Street
Cost: Free with RSVP

Dublin Calling

Also on Granville Street, there’s no doubt that this party-focused pub will be doing it big for the big day. Grab some friends, grab a Guinness, and enjoy the madness.

When: March 17th
Where: 900 Granville Street
Cost: Free with RSVP

LanaLou’s

They might not be an Irish pub per se, but that isn’t stopping LanaLou’s from joining in on the fun. On Thursday night, they’ll be hosting the local band Paddy Waggin’ for some live music, alongside a special Irish cuisine menu and of course, some drink specials.

When: Thursday, March 17th
Where: 362 Powell Street
Cost: $10

St. Patrick’s Day Irish Cooking Class

For something completely different (and a whole lot more involved), maybe it’s time to check out a cooking class! Over the course of the evening, you’ll get to make some seriously tasty dishes, from leek and potato soup to soda bread to Irish stew.

When: Thursday, March 17th
