It’s hard to imagine, but 2023 is just a few weeks away, meaning it’s time to start looking at New Year’s plans. Obviously, large gatherings have been out of the question over the past few years but this year, Seattle is going to ring in 2023 in a big way. Here’s a look at what you can expect at T-Mobile New Year’s at the Needle this year.

The Space Needle is bringing back T-Mobile New Year’s at the Needle to ring in 2023. Crowds will be back at Seattle Center to watch the countdown live and in person from around the grounds. It will also be broadcast live on KING5 and the soundtrack will be simulcast on HITS 106.1. As it’s the first full-scale, in-person production since the pandemic, the needle is going big this year.

The needle will feature drone light formations to “add more expression and color to one of the world’s largest structurally-launched firework displays.” The formations will have 200 drones “designed to integrate with the fireworks and light displays being launched and projected off of the Space Needle.” You’ll be able to watch as they fly between 200 and 600 feet above the ground, due north of the Space Needle.

The celebrations soundtrack will feature both global tracks, and local influences, while celebrating some of the cultural touchstones of 2022 as Seattle dances into 2023. Best of all, there are no tickets for this event, you simply have to show up to the Seattle Center campus grounds. If you want to see all the light shows be sure to show up by 10 PM as that’s when they begin. Enjoy and Happy New Year!
