Wasn’t Halloween just yesterday? Regardless of whether time is moving at double speed, the holidays are upon us, and if you feel like channeling your inner Hallmark Christmas movie hero, South Granville is just the place to be.
December kicks off with South Granville’s very first community Christmas tree lighting on West 14th and Granville Street. Be there for the big event and enjoy live music, free hot cocoa and brownies for the first 200 visitors, and a grand countdown to flip the lights on the 14’ tree. The event is totally free to attend, and all the shops on Granville will be open until 8PM that night to let you squeeze in a little Christmas shopping. You know, while you’re in the mood and all.
But that’s just the start of everything Christmas happening in South Granville. The holiday vibes will be delivered all month long with roaming musicians, a French Christmas market, and TONS of photo ops.
Here’s a taste of everything that’s going on in December.
Free hot cocoa and brownies for the first 200 people, live Christmas tunes, and the big tree lighting.

Get your deals on as the shops on South Granville stay open late for Friday after the tree lighting. If you need more time, the shops will still be there all weekend following regular hours so that you can find the perfect gift.
When: Saturday, December 1 until 8 PM
Expect live music every weekend throughout December as roaming performers like Santa’s Saxes, Angie Faith, and Fandango will be popping up in shops and public spaces throughout South Granville.

Browse unique goods by artisans at this adorable French holiday market. There will be crafts, a food fair, and storytime with Santa.

The Holiday Happy Photo Bus is the perfect place to stop and snap a holiday selfie! Free, first come, first serve, weather permitting.

Be warned, carolers will be loose in the neighbourhood, and after that they’re hosting a community sing-a-long at the PMM Studio! Join in on the fun and belt out your holiday favourites with new and old friends.

Change up your regular holiday programming with Elf, the Musical. This tells the story of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole, where he is raised as one of Santa’s elves.

That’s right, there’s never been a better time to snag a festive smooch! Watch out for the bunches of mistletoe at various points along the street.
