If ordering takeout is part of your regular routine, you’ll definitely want to check out the new “Do Good Deal” at SkipTheDishes. The popular food delivery service is launching end-of-day discounts as part of its efforts to eliminate food waste in Canada. Best of all? The pilot program will use surplus restaurant ingredients to create surprise menu items every day.
As of Tuesday, January 31st, there are 50 participating restaurants in Vancouver and Winnipeg. During the last two hours of a restaurant’s operating day, the SkipTheDishes app and website will have a “Do Good Deal” menu item available for purchase – discounted by 50% or more.
“Through this launch, we’re proud to help our restaurant partners turn perfectly good surplus food into a delicious (and discounted) surprise dish for customers to enjoy,” says Steve Puchala, Senior Vice President, Growth & Restaurant Success, SkipTheDishes. “We’re excited to see our customers try a Do Good Deal to discover new favourite dishes from local restaurants while helping to save some money and the planet.”

How will each SkipTheDishes order have an impact? Well, in addition to helping to end food insecurity, each order placed will prevent an estimated 2.5 kilograms of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere.
So, save big on some of your favourite local restaurants on your next order, and help make the planet a little greener.
