This Ontario park has six beaches & a ‘natural slip n’ slide’

Forget the waterpark! Ontario has its very own outdoor playground and you’ll only find it at Grundy Lake Provincial Park. Explore its six natural beaches and very own ‘natural slip n’ slide’. Here’s what to know.

If you’re willing to take a three-and-a-half-hour drive up north, Grundy Lake Provincial Park is a spectacular destination in the Ontario wilderness that really has it all.

According to Ontario Parks, it is home to scenic lakes, sandy beaches, tall pine forests, and tons of stellar campsites.

Head out and explore the shoreline, there is where you’ll find stunning scenery of towering cliffs and Precambrian bedrock.

According to Ontario Parks, these rocks were formed over one billion years ago deep beneath the earth’s crust.

“The shoreline of Gut Lake has spectacular scenery that showcases the Precambrian rocks that are the “bedrock” (literally) of Grundy Lake,” shares their blog page.

“These rocks were formed over one billion years ago deep beneath the earth’s crust, and shaped by wind, water, and eventually glacial ice that sculpted and smoothed out the landscape over 14,000 years ago!”

To get the absolute best views of these ancient rock formations will be from a canoe or kayak on the Gut Lake trail.

Grund Lake is also home to an island named Picnic Island, which is the perfect setting for exactly what the name suggests — a picnic.

After enjoying a few snacks, head to Slippery Rock and have fun on the ‘natural slip n’ slide. According to Ontario Parks, it’s an “algae-coated rock” found on the right side of Red Maple Beach.

“Not only does the algae provide fun for the whole family, but it is also an important source of food invertebrates which are eaten by fish and other aquatic animals,” shares the park.

There are also camping accommodations of all kinds here. We’re talking RV, car camping, and backcountry canoe-in sites.

It’s worth the trip and definitely an adventure! Don’t forget your swimsuits – you’ll need ’em.
