You can cuddle mini highland cows at this adorable farm near Calgary

Looking for a fun, wholesome escape near Calgary? Silvertop Miniatures in the village of Beiseker, Alta., gives visitors the chance to meet tiny highland cows and Nigerian dwarf goats, offering an intimate, hands-on farm experience like no other.

Unlike your typical farm visit, you will have the opportunity to cuddle, feed, and take photos with their two miniature highland cows, Strawberry and Shortcake, all in a private outdoor setting.

It’s the perfect experience for animal lovers or families looking for a fun spring outing.

Meet the mini highland cows

The stars of the farm are the adorable miniature highland cows. While they may be small, they have huge personalities.

The highland breed is a smaller version of Scotland’s traditional highland cattle, a breed that dates back over 200 years. Today, miniature highland cows are known for their calm temperament, shaggy coats, and gentle eyes.

In 2025, Silvertop Miniatures introduced their first highland cow, Strawberry, to the world, and she quickly became a TikTok star. This year, the farm has a new addition – Shortcake, a snowy white miniature highland cow who travelled all the way from Illinois.

In addition to the fluffy miniature cows, Silvertop Miniatures is home to Nigerian dwarf goats. These playful little goats love to explore, jump around, and interact with humans.

A family-run project

Behind all the fluff and cuddles at Silvertop Miniatures are Dawson and Jenna Ritcher, who make sure all the animals are happy, healthy, and ready to meet the visitors.

The farm is more than just cuddles; it’s also a hands-on introduction to animal care and hobby farming, making it an educational experience for children and adults.

Plan your visit

Ready to experience all the cuteness in person? Visitors can now book their spring and summer cuddle sessions that range from 30 minutes to one hour, open to guests 12 years and older.

The first available session is Saturday, April 4, 2026, making it the perfect early-spring experience. And remember, closed-toed shoes are required to ensure you’re safe on the farm.
