Toronto is continuing its quest to be Hollywood North. There are new productions of movies and TV shows right here on our streets.
At any given time, there are at least a couple of TV shows filming in Toronto. And who knows, maybe you’ll get lucky and spot a celeb in the city.
According to the City of Toronto, our city “is one of the top five screen-based industries in North America with a full scope of industry connections, services, suppliers, talent, crew, facilities and locations delivering everything required for success in pre-production through post-production.”
So what’s currently filming or starting production in Toronto? Here are a few shows to know about:
Canada’s Got Talent S2
Do you have talent? Well, it looks like Canadians definitely do because filming for Canada’s Got Talent season two is still underway, having started on October 19. The TV show is being revived and it’s back and bigger than ever. It’s set to stop filming on March 16, 2023.
Ruby and the Well S3
And season three is now in the works for Ruby and the Well. For those who may not know the show, according to IMBD, it’s about a girl named Ruby O’Reilly who discovers a magic well after her father inherits an overgrown orchard. “She’s been designated its new ‘keeper,’ and now it’s up to her and her friends Mina and Sam to turn unfulfilled wishes into reality.” Production begins February 27, 2023, and ends May 12, 2023.
Children Ruin Everything S3
If you love Letterkenny, then you’ll love Children Ruin Everything as the same producers are behind this comedy show. It’s clearly popular considering they’re setting up for season three. We’ll have to wait until April 17, 2023 for season 3 to commence production. Filming is set to end on June 6, 2023.
Big Brother Canada S11
Do you have what it takes to be on Big Brother? Well, you’ll have to try next time because season 11 filming is underway. Production began on February 6, 2023 and will end in May 2023.
Just a few months ago, comedy show Late Bloomer held a Canada-wide casting call and now they’re gearing up to start production on March 13, 2023. Its set to end filming on April 20, 2023.
Per the casting call, it’s a Canadian comedy series that “follows the everyday life of Jassi, your average turban wearing ‘live at home’ millennial. Like many others his age, he continuously feels like he’s behind in life as he witnesses his peers with seemingly thriving careers and picture-perfect marriages.”
Canadian comedy television series Shorsey is back for season two. For those that may not know, Shorsey is a spinoff of Letterkenny so if you loved that show, get excited for this one. Production starts March 27th, 2023, and ends April 28, 2023.
