It’s no secret that actor, comedian, and filmmaker Seth Rogen (and fellow Vancouverite) knows his way around Vancouver’s food scene. Over years across multiple platforms – including his personal Twitter account, interviews, and even his own Netflix show with Chef David Chang, Rogen has given shout-outs to many spots around the city.

If you want to dine like the stars this summer but want to go somewhere Vanouverite-verified, just think, “what would Seth Rogen do?” Or, in this case – you don’t have to wonder. You can take a look at his recs below!

Without further ado, here are 6 restaurants in and around Vancouver that have earned the Seth Rogen stamp of approval.

We’re starting off this list with a true hidden gem – Go Fish on West 1st Ave. From charcoal-grilled fish sandwiches to their ever-popular fish tacos and fish & chips, we can see why this spot is Rogen-approved. With the ocean just steps away, this is a great spot for a beach day.

Where: 1505 West 1st Avenue

Phnom Penh Restaurant

Voted the Best Vietnamese Restaurant by Vancouver Magazine, Phnom Penh serves up traditional Cambodian-style noodle bowls, hot & sour soups, and rice dishes. Rogen’s go-to order? The Cambodian wings.

Where: 244 East Georgia Street

Maenam

This is apparently the spot for upscale Thai fare and cocktails. Maenam is another great Kits find, plus it comes critically acclaimed by Canada’s Top 100 Restaurants, Vancouver Magazine, and more. Enjoy family-style meals with dishes that contribute to the balance of four styles (as is customary in Thai cuisine): Hot, sour, sweet, and salty.

Where: 1938 West 4th Avenue

HK BBQ Master has won the title of Diner’s Choice for Best BBQ Restaurant, not one, not two, but ten times in a row. Traditional HK-style BBQ is definitely on our BBQ bucket list – and it sounds like HK BBQ Master is as good as they come. If you’re looking for affordable Chinese fare in a laid-back environment, this is it.

Who’s ready for some primo dim sum?? We know we are! Thankfully, Seth Rogen is right on the money with this one. Sun Sui Wah brings its world-famous roasted squab, seafood, and freshly steamed BBQ buns to Vancouver’s collective plate. If you’re looking for specific recs, check out episode 1 of Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner – Rogen and Chang try out a bunch of items from their dim sum menu.

Where: 3888 Main Street

Also featured on the first ep of Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner – Lee’s Doughnuts is a coveted spot that needs no introduction. But we’ll give on anyway. Lee’s is a local treasure that has garnered the attention of many celebs visiting Vancouver, but for folks who live in the area, the original honey dip doughnut is pretty much their bread & butter.

For Rogen, it’s the strawberry jelly doughnut.

Where: 1689 Johnston Street

Well, that’s the list, folks! We hope you’re able to try out some of these spots for yourself. After all, it’s not every day that Seth Rogen gives his stamp of approval, but if it’s any celeb’s taste that we trust in Vancouver – it’s his.
