We love a little day trip when the weather is nice and it’s even better when your destination has free admission. Selwyn Beach Conservation Area has a little of everything – scenic views, hiking and a sloping sandy beach known for its “excellent swimming.”

The park is less than two hours by car from Toronto, located along the beautiful Chemong Lake.
You’ll want to pack some running shoes, a bathing suit and some snacks as you’ll likely find yourself at this park all day long.
Start your day at Selwyn Beach Conversation Area hiking along the 3 KM of trails. According to the park, ” The property has a diverse range of habitats and ecosystems to explore.”
The natural scenic views will not disappoint and the trails are short enough that hikers of all skill levels can enjoy them.
Once you’ve worked up a sweat on the trails, it’s time to cool down in Chemong Lake! The beach at Selwyn is well-known and is the perfect place to post up for the rest of your day at the park.
The sandy shores have a slight slope, leading into the shallow waters. The area is not supervised so be sure to come prepared and to keep an eye out for visitors entering the water.
Dogs are not permitted on the beach either, so your furry friends will have to sit this one out!
The park has free admission, so if you’re looking for something to do with the family before the school year starts, we can’t think of a better place to visit.
