We have a few weeks of summer left to go, and that means now’s the perfect time to hit up a secret swimming hole in Ontario!

Nestled in the Kawarthas Northumberland region, this spot is described by Destination Ontario as a “treasured local secret.”

Well, this secret is too good not to share, so lucky for you we’re spilling the tea right now.

Tucked away on Eels Creek, this natural swimming pool is filled with fresh water from the nearby High Falls waterfall.

You’ll be soothed by the sound of water rushing over the rocks as you enjoy the beautiful views of Canadian Shield rocky outcrops and lush forests.

Stumbling upon this beautiful hidden gem will require some effort.

First, you’ll have to paddle your way along “The Land Between,” which is a 400-year-old route with scenic views around every river bend.

Just as you’re about ready to stop for a break, you’ll come upon this gorgeous spot along the creek.

And don’t worry, the payoff doesn’t end there because you’ll also be treated to views of the magnificent High Falls.

These falls are hard to get to on foot, and paddling upstream is a much more comfortable way to get there.

“It can be difficult to hike to the falls, so you’ll likely have them all to yourself, giving you a remote and undisturbed experience,” says Destination Ontario.

“Take a moment to admire the water as it cascades over the rocky outcroppings along the creek’s shore.”

To ensure that you get to all the destinations on this beautiful route, you can book a guided tour with The Land Canadian Adventures.

With so much to do and so little time left, this secret swimming hole in Ontario is the chance to make those lasting summer memories while you still can!
