Seattle’s first Black-owned brewing company is opening this March

Seattle has an amazing selection of local craft breweries, however none of them are Black-owned, until now. Metier Brewing Company is opening Seattle’s first Black-owned brewery in the Central District this March. Let’s get into some details.

The new taproom is set to open at 2616 E Cherry Street and is bringing new life to a building that was once an auto garage. Visitors will be able to enjoy a selection of Metier’s brews like their coconut porter, Belgian Golden, Kolsch, Belgian Wit, and there may also be some small-batch, E Cherry-created brews as well. Visitors will also be able to nosh on food from Umami Kushi, a Black owned Japanese street food provider.

Seattle’s new Black & Tan Hall has launched a free multi media tour of local Black History
Here are some ways to celebrate Black History Month in Seattle this year

It’s a welcome addition to Seattle as a whole but also to the Central District, a historically Black neighborhood that has seen an increase in gentrification during Seattle’s developing boom these past few years. With a mission to brew “damn good beer” and “build stronger community”, Metier is going to be a new go to spot for many Seattleites.

As an exact opening date has yet to be released, your best bet for up to date info on the project is by checking in with Metier Brewing‘s website. Cheers, folks!
