In order to determine the ranking, Resonance uses a combination of core statistics and qualitative evaluations” as well as “recommendations by locals and visitors in digital channels such as Tripadvisor, Google, Facebook and Instagram.”

This data is then interpreted through their Place Power Score, which encompasses Livability, Lovability and Prosperity.

These are the top 10 best cities in the world for 2024:

  1. London, United Kingdom
  2. Paris, France
  3. New York City, United States
  4. Tokyo, Japan
  5. Singapore, Singapore
  6. Dubai, United Arab Emirates
  7. San Francisco, United States
  8. Barcelona, Spain
  9. Amsterdam, Netherlands
  10. Seoul, South Korea

Obviously, Seattle isn’t in that top ten but we did come in 34th place which isn’t too bad when you consider that over 270 cities were analyzed.

Seattle ranked highly for a few specific factors namely, Universities in #4 and GDP per Capita in #10. Of course, our role as a tech hub was also highlighted as well as the cities overall, continued growth. That being said, the report was also honest about some of the city’s issues like housing and homelessness. As we all know, no one or anything is perfect.

So until next year, keep up the good work Seattle!
