Seattle is among the top 10 best foodie cities in America

Consider yourself a foodie? You’re not alone. And apparently, Seattle as a whole is a foodie city.

According to a report by WalletHub, the term “foodie” applies to anyone who loves gourmet dining.

“But foodie culture isn’t limited to restaurants,” they add. “Foodies enjoy discovering new and unique flavors wherever they can find them, including in their own kitchens and less prominent establishments like street food stalls. For these people, the experience of eating is elevated to a hobby or even a lifestyle.”

While being a foodie can be expensive, the report states that culinary hotspots across the States offer “plenty of affordable options for cash-strapped foodies.”

And to determine the best and cheapest foodie scenes, WalletHub says it compared over 180 US cities across 28 key indicators of foodie-friendliness.

“Our data set ranges from cost of groceries to affordability and accessibility of high-quality restaurants to food festivals per capita,” it states.

So where does Seattle Rank?

Our city comes in at 10th place, with a total score of 62.17.

Orlando came in the top spot, followed by our neighbors in Portland.

At third is Sacramento, California and in fourth is Miami, Florida. Rounding up the top five is San Fransisco.

This isn’t the first time we made a foodie list. Last year, Seattle ranked one of Trip Advisor’s 2023 Traveler’s Choice picks for the Best Food Destinations in the US.
