Do you have a 4 legged friend or hope of having one? If so, it turns out that you’re in the right place. Seattle just ranked the best place in the US for pets and their owners, according to a new study. Let’s see why the Emerald City is the best place in the US for pet owners.
The new study comes from CoworkingCafe, which analyzed relevant metrics, such as the number of veterinary and pet care establishments; pet-friendly coworking spaces; and pet-related occupations. They also looked at average apartment square footage and the number of pet-friendly apartments, as well as the number and quality of the parks in each city.
The 10 best cities for pets and their owners are as follows:
- Seattle, WA
- Madison, WI
- Lexington, KY
- Portland, OR
- Des Moines, IA
- Colorado Springs, CO & Austin, TX
- St. Louis, MO
- Denver, CO
- Raleigh, NC
- Minneapolis, MN & Aurora, CO
Seattle stood out most for its walkable access to parks, with almost all residents living within a half-mile walking distance of a park. Despite our city's notoriously rainy weather, we also ranked high in terms of days with ideal temperatures for pets.
And while it might not be the easiest for owners to find affordable housing, 93% of rental apartments in the city are pet-friendly according to this study. Not only that, but it had the second-highest number of pet-friendly coworking spaces per 100,000 residents.
