It’s been a big week for local rankings! First UW was ranked as one of the top 10 universities in the world and then a local train trip was ranked as one of the most scenic train rides in the nation. To make things even sweeter, Seattle was just ranked one of 2023’s best cities in the world by Resonance Consultancy. Let’s check it out.

Resonance Consultancy looked at more than 250 cities around the globe, compiling a top 100 based on 6 categories and 24 different factors. Categories included place, product, programming, people, prosperity, and promotion while some factors included weather, culture, and income equality.

The top 10 best cities in the world are as follows.

  1. London, England
  2. Paris, France
  3. New York City, USA
  4. Tokyo, Japan
  5. Dubai, United Arab Emirates
  6. Barcelona, Spain
  7. Rome, Italy
  8. Madrid, Spain
  9. Singapore, Republic of Singapore
  10. Amsterdam, Netherlands

Sadly Seattle didn’t make the top 10, but we did make the top 50. The Evergreen City came in 39th place with notable rankings in GDP per capita (11), people (39), and prosperity (19).

Resonance Consultancy commended Seattle’s self-reliance during the pandemic between being the first US city to have COVID and managing to keep the lowest death rate in the 20 largest metropolitan regions in the country.

They also of course mentioned our booming tech industry from Amazon to Zillow.  Overall, we got kudos for the usual suspects and while it may not always feel like it, Seattle is a pretty great place to live.

Have a great week!
