Ready for one of the most gorgeous views of Ontario’s great outdoors? Climb your way to the top of the Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower this summer and take in the most breathtaking vistas.

You’ll find this lovely gem in the beautiful Lake of Bays region which is owned and operated by the Township of Algonquin Highlands.

It’s about a three hours drive north from Toronto so if you wanted to do a day trip, it’s possible.

The Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower attracts over 60,000 visitors each year, according to the Township of Algonquin Highlands, and offers stunning panoramas from the top as well as the ground level.

But to get there, you’ll need to embark on a hike. You’ll start your journey from the Dorset Museum and walk about 2.3 km to the top of ‘Dorset Mountian, per Discover Muskoka.

Once you reach the end, you’ll be met with the old fire tower, standing at a whopping 465 feet.

The original structure was actually used as a fire tower until 1961 but has since been converted into an observation tower that provides 360-degree views of treetops and glistening lake water.

The surrounding Tower Park and trail are also popular places to visit — dogs are welcome on leash, but cannot be taken up to the top, according to Huntsville Adventures.

In addition to the hiking trail, there are also picnic shelters, a gift shop, and a tourist info kiosk to help you make the most of your visit.

Now gather your friends and head to the Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower – you won’t regret it.
