Despite the dullness that fall can bring, Ontario shows off its colours, and its charming towns embrace the falling leaves. These lovely destinations transform into the perfect fall getaways, each with its own hidden gems and spots that make it even more special. The town of Bayfield is one of those charmers, home to a scenic park on the edge of a bluff.

Bayfield is located on the eastern shores of Lake Huron in southern Ontario. It’s just over a two and a half hours drive west of Toronto.

Bayfield, Ont.: What to know

Now, this town is known for its stunning coastlines, lakeside vistas, and downtown core. It’s a popular summer hotspot and even better in the fall.

If you’re looking for some last-minute weekend plans this October, the Bayfield Farmers’ Market is a lovely reason to visit. It offers local and organic produce, along with artisanal goods like maple syrup and ciders every Friday afternoon from May to October in Clan Gregor Square. So Oct. 30, 2026 is your last chance to enjoy it.

But that’s not all you can do here. The one-of-a-kind boutiques are worth the trip, but as nature lovers, we’re adding scenic sights to our to-do list.

For the most stunning sights, especially for a breathtaking sunset, make your way to Pioneer Park.

This piece of land is located on the edge of a bluff, according to Destination Ontario. It overlooks Lake Huron.

Beach access

Pioneer Park is privately owned and is maintained for the benefit of the public by the Pioneer Park Association. According to its website, this space is a “favourite destination for residents and visitors seeking tranquillity and relaxation in a natural setting.”

What makes this park even more special is the staircase that leads down to the waterfront, as it offers access to the beach.

Though a dip in the lake may be far from ideal this time of year, the scenery is still worth the visit.

With winter just around the corner, now is the perfect time to plan that day trip from Toronto.

Have fun in Bayfield!
