The countdown has begun, Toronto! As the weather warms across the city we’re all looking ahead to the most wonderful time of the year: cherry blossom season. We’ve got some amazing news on that front. Sakura Watch has just begun! That means we’re close to peak bloom, right??

Well, not quite. We’ve still got a few weeks to go before then. But even just hints of what’s ahead has got us all jazzed up. When you head to this website, you can follow along on the progress of High Park’s famous cherry blossom trees.

According to Sakura Watch, as of Monday, March 8th things are right on track for a peak bloom season in late April/early May. The trees are looking awesome for the stage they’re at, with many buds already visible on their branches. Ahh, spring is coming!!

Of course, viewing season may be a little different than we’re used to. You’ll remember that last year the pandemic took quite a toll on Toronto’s enjoyment of High Park’s blossoms. So we can only hope that things are safe enough by peak bloom for us to visit in person.

We’ll be crossing our fingers until then. If you’d like to stay in the loop on all the updates, be sure to check out this amazing Sakura Watch blog.
