It’s no secret that Vancouver-born Ryan Reynolds is a crown jewel of Canada, sharing his love for his city in countless interviews, on social media, and even in Netflix specials like David Letterman’s “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.” He’s lent his support to the Terry Fox Foundation, pursued numerous business ventures both in Canada and the U.S., and even opened Canada’s largest film & TV production hub in Ontario earlier this year. Now, the actor and business mogul can officially add BC’s highest honour to his accolades: The Order of BC.
Of 224 British Columbians nominated to join the Canadian Honours System this year, 14 were awarded the Order of British Columbia by an independent advisory council on Monday, August 7th, joining 503 total esteemed members from across the province.
“This honour is a mark of excellence, reflected in the service and achievements of these incredible British Columbians,” says lieutenant governor of BC Janet Austin. “Their accomplishments have left an indelible mark on their communities, and ensuing legacies will impact our province to the benefit of future generations.”

“While they are not officially part of the Marvel Universe, these 14 remarkable individuals are superheroes,” says Premier David Eby. “They have contributed in unique and profound ways to our province, our nation and beyond, through leadership, selflessness and generosity.”
The Order of BC investiture ceremony for 2023 recipients will take place in Victoria in the late fall.
Though Reynolds has yet to share the word of his achievement on socials, we’re betting he’s cooking up a tweet or two that’s as comical as it is heartfelt – so stay tuned!
