Well, this is certainly a fun way to change up the classic talk show interview. Last night, co-stars Will Ferrell and Reynolds decided to swap places at competing talk shows, just for the heck of it. And, unsurprisingly, the result is a pleasure to watch!

First up is Will Ferrell, who appeared in Reynolds’ place on the California set of Jimmy Kimmel Live. And to his credit, Ferrell opted to talk only about the upcoming Netflix movie Red Notice, starring Reynolds. The best part? Ferrell hasn’t seen any of it, but stayed committed to hyping up the project (and even Reynolds himself).

Meanwhile, Reynolds turned up in New York for Ferrell’s interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Full disclosure, we thought the Canadian sweetheart did a better job of the ol’ switcheroo, even becoming standoffish when asked about his personal life. Instead, he wanted to focus on Ferrell’s upcoming Apple TV+ series The Shrink Next Door. Which, by the way, Ferrell is starring in alongside Paul Rudd, aka the sexiest man alive.

Did they just not want to fly across the country for their respective interviews? Is this just a sneaky way to promote the two of them’s upcoming Christmas Carol-inspired movie, Spirited? Whatever the case, this was a fun twist on the classic late night show.
