This weekend, Toronto experienced one of its first decently warm evenings of the year, meaning the city’s beloved sunset-watching spot was filled up once again. If you didn’t know, Riverdale Park East is the place to be on a clear evening in Toronto, displaying both the gorgeous skyline and the vibrant colours that dance around the sky as the sun goes down.
While it’s merely my opinion that Riverdale Park is the best sunset spot in Toronto, I think it can be agreed upon by most based on how busy it gets as the warm weather starts to roll through.
Located just east of the Don Valley Parkway along Broadview, this park is angled towards the city on a slant, meaning people can stagger along the hill to find their optimal viewing spot.
And you don’t have to take my word for how great Riverdale is, the 4.8 stars on over 5,500 Google Reviews really speak for themselves.
“Riverdale Park is a tranquil retreat with lush green spaces and stunning views of the Toronto skyline. It’s perfect for families, featuring playgrounds and picnic areas. The sunset here is breathtaking,” shares one review.
“Great park to visit sunsets and the skyline! Grab a blanket, sit back and enjoy a gorgeous sunset,” shares another.
If you’re taking transit, the 505 streetcar takes you right up to the park’s ledge.
While you’re in the area, be sure to check out a few spots nearby for a bite to eat, including Rooster Coffee House right across the street from the park, Danforth Sidebar (be sure to order the pork belly) or Allen’s (amazing fish and chips).
Enjoy that stellar sunset, Toronto. Just be sure to get there a couple of hours before the sun starts going down, as the park gets busy quickly.
Where: 550 Broadview Ave.
