Ready for a summer adventure? You no longer have to be on the hunt for a friend who owns a boat. Because it turns out you can rent a boat for FREE from the Center for Wooden Boats. If you’ve been looking for a chance to cruise Lake Union, this is it.

What’s the catch here? Well, there isn’t one but take into consideration the name, the Center for Wooden Boats. This boat rental isn’t a massive yacht or powerboat rather it’s a simple, wooden peapod rowboat. A perfect summery adventure!

Now don’t let that get you down, in fact, we think this is more fun because just imagine you and 4 of your friends rowing along in Lake Union!

Not to mention, when was the last time you were in a rowboat? And once again, this is all free which is pretty amazing when you think about how expensive it can be to get some time on the water.

If you’d like to get in on the Center for Wooden Boat’s free program you’ll need to be on top of booking. The spots open 2-3 weeks in advance and fill quickly. A new week of availability is added each Sunday night. If you miss out on one of the free peapod boats you can always hand over some cash and rent one of the other rowboats, kayaks, canoes, or paddleboards anytime during regular business.

The free rowboats are available from Wednesday-Sunday in 1-hour time slots.

Public Peapod Program
