With Thanksgiving and Halloween behind us and the holiday season on its way, it won’t be long before Remembrance Day is here. The stat holiday is observed in 9 provinces and territories to commemorate those who have fought for our country. In Metro Vancouver, there are several ceremonies and events going on on Saturday, November 11th to recognize the contributions of our soldiers and veterans.

So with that in mind, here are 5 ways to observe Remembrance Day in Metro Vancouver in 2023.

Remembrance Day Concert – North Vancouver & South Delta

The Vancouver Welsh Men’s Choir and Delta Concert Band are performing a special Remembrance Day concert at the South Delta Baptist Church on Saturday, November 11th at 2:30 pm.

Tickets are $35 per adult and $20 per child.

Remembrance Day at the Japanese-Canadian War Memorial 

From 10:40 am to 11:30 am on Remembrance Day, there will be a ceremony at the Japanese Canadian War Memorial in Stanley Park, followed by a reception at the Vancouver Rowing Club at 11:30 am.

Remembrance Day Ceremony at UBC

Since the opening of the War Memorial Gym at UBC, the university has always held a ceremony commemorating November 11th. This year will mark 72 years since the first ceremony and will bring faculty, staff, and students for a series of short readings, remarks from special guests, and musical performances by UBC’s School of Music.

Remembrance Day in Maple Ridge

On Friday, November 11th, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #88 will return to Memorial Peace Park for a Remembrance Day Ceremony. A parade will commence in downtown Maple Ridge from 11 a.m. to noon.
