Canada’s annual day of remembrance is about to take place, so it’s time to wear our poppies with pride and honour our veterans and their brave sacrifices. If you’d like to participate in person this year, there are many Remembrance Day events in Toronto that you can attend.
Here are 6 events to recognize and commemorate Remembrance Day around Toronto.
Toronto Civic Remembrance Day Services
Remembrance Day ceremonies are hosted in many locations across the city, and there will be several services taking place at 10:45 AM sharp on November 11th.
In addition to the Toronto Old City Hall Cenotaph, events will be held at the Scarborough War Memorial and Fort York National Historic Site, as well as East York Civic Centre, York Civic Centre Cenotaph, Meridian Arts Centre, and the Etobicoke Civic Centre.

Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day Services
Royal Canadian Legion Branches across the country will be hosting Remembrance Day ceremonies on November 11th, and you can search for your nearest one online.
You can also participate by submitting words of remembrance on the Legion’s online Gallery of Remembrance, supporting the Poppy Campaign, and watching the virtual Poppy Drop on Parliament Hill.

Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Toronto Zoo
The Toronto Zoo is hosting its 37th annual Remembrance Day ceremony this year. All veterans and serving members in uniform will get complimentary zoo admission and parking.
“Veterans and the general public are invited to join in remembering and honouring the many wartime sacrifices that Canadians have made for their country,” the description says. Plus, those who attend will get 50% off admission to the zoo on November 11th.

Toronto city-wide moment of silence
At 11:11, all TTC vehicles will stop for two minutes of silence. The public is invited to participate too by observing the two-minute silence in honour of the veterans and their service to Canada.

Operation Raise a Flag
Sunnybrook is largest veterans’ care facility in Canada, and its annual Operation Raise a Flag campaign allows members of the public to show their appreciation for the men and women who bravely served.
On November 10th, volunteers will plant a sea of 30,000 flags on the grounds of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. You can stop by on Remembrance Day to observe the flags and also write a thank you message to Canada’s veterans.

Historic Walking Tour: Remembering Port Credit’s Fallen
Venture outside of the city this Remembrance Day for a free walking tour in Port Credit, Mississauga.
Put on by Port Credit BIA and Heritage Mississauga, this tour will take place after the the Remembrance Day service at Port Credit Cenotaph.
“Stay on to hear the stories of bravery and sacrifice of the local soldiers and nurses who served from 1812 to the present, and to learn about the loyalty and support of the people who did their part on the home front.”
