There’s a chill in the air and that can only mean one thing – autumn is fast approaching. It’s time to break out the flannels, order that pumpkin spice latte and start planning your fall hikes. Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area boasts some of the best views during the changing season and it’s just a quick drive from Toronto.
According to Conservation Halton, “Rattlesnake Point is one park that will take your breath away.” The spot has cliffside hiking trails, canyon views and thousand-year-old cedars growing from rocks.
Buffalo Crag Lookout Point has the autumn views you may be looking for if you plan on travelling to the area in the next couple of months.
Not only will you get spectacular cliffside views of the escarpment, but you’ll also be able to catch sights of turkey vultures soaring around the park.
The Nassagaweya Canyon is below and from the various lookout points, you’ll catch views of colours changing throughout the countryside.
Be sure to bring a camera and snap some photos. The trail and canyon are also lined with Ancient Cedars – these trees date back 800 years! These trees are one of the main reasons the area is protected, so if you see any while you’re hiking be sure to respect them.
The Nassagaweya Trail also connects Rattlesnake Point to the nearby Crawford Lake, which has a boardwalk around a rare blue-green lake.
Entry into Rattlesnake Point Conservation Area is $10.25 + HST per adult or $7.25 + HST per child 5-14 if you grab your passes online. Children under 5 can enter the area for free.
