An outdoor staircase leads to a breathtaking waterfall in this Alberta Park

Are you looking for a few more epic outdoor adventures before summer’s end? Before the winds of seasonal change blow in, check out Ram Falls Provincial Park.

Located south of Nordegg, Alberta, this beautiful park has campgrounds and sites available between May and September, hiking trails, and a 20-metre waterfall that you can take in from a large outdoor staircase and viewing platform.

In addition to the waterfall, visitors can also go hiking, fishing, and are encouraged to watch for wildlife—which includes bighorn sheep, bald eagles, and merlins.

Before you visit

Want to check it out?

Pump up your tires, fill up your tank, and charge your phone, because you’ll want to be prepared!

“The road to Ram Falls is a gravel road that can be a bit rough, though it is suitable for most vehicles,” explains Alberta Parks.

“The nearest gas station is in Nordegg, about 65km from the park. Although it is only 65km, it may take over an hour to drive, depending on the road condition.”

In addition, they warn visitors of the limited cellphone reception in the area.

“It is best to print a map instead of relying on GPS,” they add.

If, however, you’d still like to check it out, you’re in for a treat!

The area is described as “scenic” and was even named among “Alberta’s top six unexplored waterfalls.”

Please remember to check road closures and advisories before hitting the road and take plenty of photos!

It’s truly a gorgeous spot.
