This lakeside Ontario town is a filming location for this popular Netflix show

Ontario’s waterfront towns are truly magical and Cobourg, Ontario is no different. The area is along Lake Ontario between Toronto and Kingston known as Ontario’s “feel-good town”. It’s so good that it’s become a popular filming location for a number of films and shows including the popular Netflix series “Ginny & Georgia”.

Getting there

Getting to Cobourg, Ontario will take around one and a half hours by car from Toronto, a quick day trip!

Cobourg to Kingston is about the same distance by car, an hour and a half one way.

Filming in Cobourg, Ontario

“Ginny & Georgia” is one of a handful of productions that were filmed in town!

“Pixels”, a 2015 sci-fi comedy film, was also filmed in this adorable town. The movie has a pretty stacked cast including Adam Sandler, Peter Dinklage and Kevin James.

“Remember Me”, a movie starring Robert Pattinson also used Cobourg, Ontario as a filming backdrop.

And Canadian classic TV series “Murdoch Mysteries” has used the town as a filming location a variety of times over the many years it’s been on air.

Best places to live

Cobourg is pretty special but don’t take my word for it. The town has received recognition for being one of Canada’s best places to live.

The town’s website details that it has been named multiple times by MoneySense Magazine for being one of the top places to live in the country among places with populations under 25,000.

A day trip to this feel-good town is in the near future!
