What is Washington’s classic beer? Rainier of course! The beer started being brewed before Washington was even a state in 1878 according to the brand. While things have changed significantly since then, the classic beer is still around and this summer marks the 10th anniversary of the first R-Day. Here’s what’s happening at this year’s event.
R-Day 2023 takes place this weekend on Saturday, September 16th, and is sure to be extra exuberant and eclectic. It’s a celebration of all things “wonderful and weird” and a great way to enjoy music and of course some frosty Mountain Fresh Rainier beer.
There will be a full “cast of beloved Rainier characters to attend R-Day, led by a herd of Wild Rainiers, which will unveil a slew of Rainier oddities and attractions.” Get ready to get your best brand-themed outfit together.

Beyond the wild and wacky fun, there will also be some great musicians including PNW hard rock band Red Fang co-headlining with Cherry Glazerr. You can also hear from R&B beat master Parisalexa, and KEXP’s Larry Mizell Jr.
R-Day is a chance to celebrate the classic brand while listening to great music and having fun amongst thousands of other fans all wearing their best Rainier costumes. What’s more, the event is free and no tickets are required, all you have to do is show up.
Happy R-Day!
