Your next fall adventure awaits at the heart of one of Ontario’s most beloved islands. If you’re looking for a reason to embark on a major road trip, head to Central Manitoulin. Here you’ll find the Providence Bay Boardwalk, a scenic trail that’ll get you off your feet and into a wonderful outdoor experience.
A drive here from Toronto will take you just under six hours. Consider it a weekend trip rather than a day excursion up north.
According to the Municipality of Central Manitoulin, this community is at the heart of Manitoulin Island.
Here you’ll find an “authentically rural, small-town life” blessed with pristine lakes and family farms.
Though there’s lots to explore, we’re here to focus on Providence Bay and its wooden boardwalk.
According to the municipality site, the boardwalk spans the Mindemoya River and runs for a large portion of Providence Bay Beach. It crosses dunes with elevated platforms, all while being wheelchair-accessible.
For a real treat, take a stroll along the boardwalk as the sun begins to set. It’s absolutely breathtaking.
There are also viewing platforms on the boardwalk, making it the perfect picture moment as you feast your eyes on the horizon.
We don’t know about you but this sounds like a great way to spend a lovely fall evening.
