Birthday parties, date nights, and weekends are about to get more exciting because this fall, Calgary, Alberta will welcome PowerPlay, an all-in-one entertainment venue described as a first for Canada.
Located in Southcentre Mall, this 80,000-square-foot spot will have everything from dine-in micro movie theatres and a coffee bar to high-tech games and interactive simulators.
What’s more, it’ll be fun for all ages!
“At PowerPlay, we are obsessed with redefining the entertainment experience by blending cutting-edge technology, premium dining, and immersive activities all under one roof,” says Moe Farhat, Managing Partner of PowerPlay.
“From our world-class entertainment experience to our dine-in micro cinemas, we’re elevating every aspect of leisure, creating a space where people come together to connect, celebrate, and make lasting memories.”
According to the company, the space will have a bowling alley and arcade, as well as a baseball ‘strike zone’ with a real-time pitching machine and high-speed cameras.
Love VR? Their immersive gamebox will offer an interactive gaming experience where “players can step into a digital world” without headsets, creating an all-encompassing 360-degree experience.
They’ll also have a tiny cinema where you can hit a unique self-serve concession area or indulge in gourmet bites – but that’s not all!
In 2025, they hope to expand – adding a speakeasy, rooftop patio, laser tag arena and a Starbucks.

PowerPlay is set to open in November, but not before they’ve hired over 150 people.
On October 25th and 26th, those interested in working at the venue are encouraged to bring their resumes to the lower-level admin offices.
Between 5 pm and 8 pm on Friday and 10 am and 4 pm on Saturday, hopefuls could be chosen for a preliminary interview with a manager.
Who knows, you might just land your dream job!
As always, we’ll keep you updated as more information rolls in, but until then – happy applying and good luck!
There’s no doubt that this place will be a hotspot.
