There’s a popular BC park and stargazing spot that overlooks Howe Sound with two sunken ships

If you’re in search of a peaceful fall destination not too far from Vancouver, Porteau Cove is a scenic spot with plenty of hiking, fishing, and stargazing opportunities to take advantage of.

Situated along the picturesque Sea to Sky Highway, the provincial park is a perfect daytime stopping point or place to set up for an evening of watching the stars or the next aurora display.

And if you want to stay overnight, there are cozy year-round cabins you can book that are right by the ocean!

Water activities

The spot is also popular among kayakers and paddle-boarders, who have the chance to navigate through the calm waters while taking in the breathtaking scenery and mountain vistas.

And if you want to go a little deeper, you can even go scuba diving and explore a series of man-made reefs and two mysterious sunken vessels.

Hikers can adventure through the popular Legacy Trail through lush forests and coastal bluffs, and even catch a couple of seals, bald eagles, or orcas on the journey.

During the night, visitors can enjoy the star-studded skies from the park’s oceanfront campground (or until 11 pm at the day-use area).

Each campsite is equipped with designated fire pits, picnic tables, and access to clean facilities.

So there you have it, BC!
