Buckle up, Vancouver, because the city’s “sleepy” reputation when it comes to its live music and events scene might be changing altogether over the next couple of years.
On Wednesday, April 26th, the PNE announced its proposal for a new state-of-the-art outdoor amphitheatre nestled in the heart of the park. The new mixed-use space will provide a much-needed area for the city’s emerging music, arts, and culture scene to unfold.
We’re talking top-tier concerts, sports events, cultural programming, and more – all with sweeping views of the North Shore.
“The crown jewel of the PNE and Hastings Park, the new PNE Amphitheatre will enable us to showcase and celebrate BC’s talent, diversity, and enthusiasm for live events,” says PNE President & CEO Shelley Frost.

The year-round venue will seat 10,000 people and host 75+ performances per year, which means Vancouver will likely be on the map for a lot more global artists, performers, and touring events.
As well, the new amphitheatre will host 15 PNE Fair shows each year, including its popular summer night concert series.
Its design also includes accessible washrooms, merch sales, food and beverage concessions, hospitality suites, lounge spaces, and more.
Designed by award-winning Revery Architecture, the amphitheatre will also extend to an adjacent Festival plaza and Hastings Creek, featuring comfortable seating, public art, festival and event infrastructure, and food trucks.
The new festival space will be constructed with sustainability in mind, built to Passive Haus, LEED, and Salmon-Safe certification standards.
Currently, the PNE projects the completion of the new amphitheatre in 2026, with construction taking place between 2024 and 2025.
Initial design and “discovery sessions” will commence this summer.
