Twitter isn’t the only social media company making waves in Toronto. Just days after the news broke that the online giant is opening up an engineering hub here in the city, Pinterest has announced they’re following suit. It looks like yet another social media spot is expanding here and, let us tell ya, we’ve got no complaints.

Apparently, the new Pinterest engineering hub will be looking to hire around 50 local talents. These roles will cover everything from engineering, to sales, insights, and marketing. This hub in Toronto marks the very first international expansion of its kind for the company.

What’s even more exciting about this news, it’s that it looks like the beginning of a trend for these enormous tech companies. Rumour has it that other big names like Uber, HSBC, Punchh, Xero, and BFS Capital have also looked into creating similar hubs in the city. Is Toronto the next Silicon Valley?? Stay tuned.

To add a little flattery to the whole situation, Pinterest has said that the reason they chose Toronto for the engineering hub is because of all the local talent we’ve got to offer. Specifically, engineering grads from local schools like the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto. We’ll take that compliment any day!

There’s no word yet on the official opening date of Pinterest’s new office, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for that. After the difficult year COVID-19 has caused, this news couldn’t come at a better time.
