Star of Alberta-shot ‘The Last of Us’ joked about filming in Canada on SNL (VIDEO)

When your project is as successful as ‘The Last Of Us’, it’s only a matter of time until you get a call from NBC! This weekend, after starring in some of the most talked about TV shows in recent history, it was finally Pedro Pascal’s turn to host Saturday Night Live and he certainly did not disappoint!

Though the audience is only a few episodes into its first season, HBO’s video game adaption has earned critical acclaim and is enjoyed by fans all over the world – especially those in Alberta.

Shot entirely in Wild Rose Country, not only do we watch for the incredible effects, unreal performances and beautiful writing – we also look forward to playing “where was that filmed” with our friends and family every week.

Luckily, our love for the show is not unrequited.

On more than one occasion, the cast and crew have raved about filming in Alberta – but during Pascal’s appearance on SNL, he took some time to poke fun at the province.

“For some HBO shows, you get to shoot in a five-star Italian resort surrounded by beautiful people, but I said no – that’s too easy,” he said, referring to the network’s other smash ‘The White Lotus.’

“I want to shoot in a freezing Canadian forest while being chased around by a guy whose head looks like a genital wart.”

If of course, you missed his monologue – you can catch it above, though we’d also recommend watching the hilarious parody he did on his latest project.

Set in a world, not unlike the one they created in Calgary, Edmonton and Canmore, SNL answered the question “what would a gritty adaption of children’s classic, Mario Kart look like?”

To get a good belly laugh, check it out – and be sure to tune into new episodes of The Last Of Us on Crave or HBO via your local TV Provider every Sunday at 9:00 pm ET or 7 pm MST.

You won’t regret it!
