Love shack on wheels: You can stay in a “shaggin’ wagon” at this BC hotel

If you’ve had your fair share of Valentine’s Day dinners and want to try something new this year, perhaps it’s time for an afternoon delight. Hotel Zed Tofino is shaking things up with the return of its “Nooner Shaggin’ Wagon” for couples looking for a little spicy privacy, if you know what we mean.

Decked out with cozy seating and 70s-inspired decor, the 1978 Chevy van-turned-love-shack will offer guests the ultimate romantic experience. And for half an hour, you and your partner can have it all to yourselves.

“Hotel Zed’s Nooner has always been about rebelling against boring Valentine’s Day traditions and having fun,” said Mandy Farmer, president and CEO of Hotel Zed and Accent Inns. “Nothing represents the 70s better than the iconic Shag Wagon, so we thought why not?”

The cause

This year’s experience was created in partnership with Good Night Out – a non-profit dedicated to building awareness around consent and sexual assault prevention.

“This year’s Nooner Shaggin’ Wagon deal encourages sex-positivity, encourages others to start the conversation,” said Farmer. “We recognize the countless forms of sexuality and expression as a natural and healthy part of being a human being.”

The experience

The “Shaggin’ Wagon” will be available for booking at all three of their locations between 11 am and 2 pm on Tuesday, February 14th.

Guests who book the $69 Nooner package at Hotel Zed Tofino will have solo access to the cozy vehicle in the middle of the forest. And before couples make their way there, they can take advantage of an “Apres Nooner” happy hour from 12 to 5 pm. On the menu?Chocolate-covered strawberries, freshly shucked oysters, and other tempting treats, as well as an Afternoon Delight gin cocktail feature.
