“It originated as the adaptation of the Portuguese cake Colchão de Noiva (Bride’s Mattress), a rolled sponge cake filled with almonds,” said Trindade in a post.
“Upon arriving in Brazil, the Portuguese bakers changed the filling to the native guava fruit.” Unlike the traditional swiss roll cake, the Bolo de Rolo is thinner and has more layers.
At Paulo’s Cake Shop, guests can choose from guava, Dulce de Leche, or Chocolate. Customers can also find bolo de pote (cake in a cup), traditional pudding, and authentic Brazillian coffee, on its menu.
Add that to your list of must-try spots in the city!
