You can soon bus from Vancouver to one of the largest parks in BC

Luckily for those without car access, there are plenty of beautiful summer destinations accessible by bus from Vancouver. And when it comes to the most convenient options, it doesn’t get much easier than hopping on a Parkbus to Golden Ears.

One of the largest parks in the province, Golden Ears is known for its iconic peaks for which it’s named, and its abundance of hiking and camping options. Whether you’re looking for a breath of fresh air from the city or want to plan a last-minute trip for the long weekend, Golden Ears checks off all the boxes.

Hikers can enjoy panoramic views of the valleys and alpine meadows from the beginner-friendly Evans Peak Trail to the more moderate Lookout and Loop trails. And if a day on the lake is more your vibe, you can rent a canoe or kayak at Alouette’s day-use area (South Beach) on the weekends up until Labour Day, weather permitting!

While there’s no longer a campfire ban in effect, campers are asked to stick with the metal fire rings provided at Alouette Lake, Gold Creek, and North Beach, and to either bring their own firewood or purchase some from the park operator. Note that firewood should not be gathered at any of the campsites or surrounding areas, as doing so harms the natural vegetation.

All in all, there are over 400 campsites to choose from, as well as several backcountry areas for those with a little more experience under their belt.

Parkbus info

Starting Sunday, July 2nd, passengers can officially hop on a Parkbus to Golden Ears. The non-profit bus service will drop visitors off at the Gold Creek Parking area, with the journey taking around an hour from Vancouver. As for the cost, it is $64 per adult.

So there you have it, adventurers! If you haven’t been up to Golden Ears in a while or don’t want to scour the park for parking, now’s your chance.
