It’s outdoor movie season, and what better way to enjoy a warm summer evening than with a classic film under the stars? Make sure your picnic blankets and low chairs are handy, because there’s something screening for everyone this summer!
Here are all the outdoor movies you can catch in and around Vancouver (so far).
Every year, Downtown Vancouver hosts weekly movie screenings at šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square in front of the Vancouver Art Gallery, all of which are free to attend. With a giant projector screen and plenty of space to lay out your picnic blankets and chairs, the square transforms into the ultimate open-air theatre.
Note that movies begin at sundown, with performances and activities starting at 5 pm every Thursday from July 4th to August 15th.

Now in its third year, Deckchair Cinema brings movie-goers together on Cates Deck in front of the Polygon Gallery for weekly al fresco classic film screenings on Thursdays starting June 27th.
Screenings will begin at sunset, and will be accompanied by music and live entertainment leading up to the movie start time. So don’t forget your blankets and chairs!

Sunset Cinema is back at the Shipyards Commons this summer, which is a covered outdoor space. There will be public washrooms on-site as well as rotating food trucks.
Here are all the movies you can catch:
When: Wednesdays from July 31st to August 28th
Where: The Shipyards, North Vancouver
Cost: Free admission
On Friday, July 12th and July 26th, North Vancouver’s Civic Plaza is hosting two free outdoor film screenings between the City Hall and Public Library.
Those feeling hungry can grab a snack or drink from the concession for just $1, with funds supporting teen programs at the Library.

Cost: Free admission
While the movie and time are still TBD, Ray Perrault Park in North Vancouver will transform with a 24-foot screen on Friday, August 9th. So stay tuned for more details as they come!
There will also be ‘jumbo games’ available to play starting at 6 pm.
