This Alberta creek has a natural waterslide where you can make a splash for FREE

Hidden gems, secret destinations, and scenic routes that lead to the unexpected: Wild Rose Country has it all, but you’ll have to put in some work to find some of the best!

Located near Ya Ha Tinda Ranch, the only federally operated working horse farm in Canada, you’ll find the Scalp Creek natural waterslides which are fun, fast, and free to visit.

The catch? Getting there is no walk in the park!

According to Parks Canada, your journey to the hottest place to cool off on a warm day starts at the Big Horn campground.

“Head NW from the campground crossing Bighorn Creek and Scalp Creek following the Scalp Creek Trail,” they write.

“Continue along the creek instead of going up the cut line. You must cross the creek 4 times before you get to the end of the trail where you can tie your horse.”

Just up the creek is where you’ll find the waterslides.

This particular trip will take about two and a half to three hours to complete but could prove challenging to some.

The experience makes it all worth it though, especially when temperatures soar.

If you’re interested in checking it out, remember to be respectful, clean up after yourselves, and stop and smell the flowers.

At Ya Ha Tinda Ranch, there is also a hidden waterfall, a ton of wildlife, and the incredible Eagle View Point, so you may want to take your time.

This really is a one-of-a-kind experience not to be missed by adventure seekers.

Enjoy and happy sliding!
