Here’s what’s open and closed in Calgary on Canada Day this year

Sun, fun, and celebration. Another long weekend is nearly here and so are several things to see and do around Alberta. Before you kick things off, however, there are a few things to take note of, Mainly what will be open and closed on Canada Day in Calgary.

From city-owned facilities to tourist favourites, here’s what you can and cannot visit July 1st.

Open

Movie Theatre

Pop some corn! Those hoping to catch a flick this long weekend can check out Landmark Cinemas, and Cineplex, which will all be open this weekend.

Malls

Want to shop until you drop? Though we’d recommend checking their hours before heading out, Southcentre Mall, CrossIron MillsCF Chinook Centre, CF Market Mall and The CORE Shopping Centre will all be open on July 1st.

The Calgary Zoo

This year, The Calgary Zoo will not only remain open but will be celebrating Canada Day this year with special programming. Check them out!

Calgary-Owned Golf Courses

Whether you were hoping to check out Maple Ridge or Lakeview, all Calgary-owned golf courses will also be open this Canada Day – Check out the link here to make a tee time now!

Grocery and Liquor Stores

Having a BBQ? Whether you need milk or have to do a last-minute beer run before heading to your campsite, you’re in luck. Most liquor and grocery shops will be open on July 1st.

The Calgary Tower

Have family or friends in town? This Canada Day, check out the Calgary Tower and enjoy the view!

Funky facts and fun! This Monday why not head to Telus Spark and have a ton of fun while learning a thing or two?

Museum

This Canada Day Albertans will be able to visit several museums like the Royal Tyrrell Museum, The Hangar Flight Museum, and the Military Museum. Happy learning!

Sorry, folks – but this Canada Day, the following facilities will be closed in lieu of the holiday.

Post Offices

Whether it’s an Amazon return or an invitation – it’ll have to wait! This Canada Day the post office will be closed.

Costco

While grocery and convenience stores will be open this weekend Costco will be unshoppable. Looks like you’ll have to get your massive hot dog fix before Canada Day! 

Government Offices

From the passport office to the DMV, all government offices will be closed on Canada Day.
