This turquoise lake is one of the most scenic places in BC

From Wedgemount to Cheakmus, there are plenty of stunning lakes to choose from at Garibaldi Provincial Park, but its namesake lake holds a special place in the hearts of all who visit – and for good reason. The beautiful mountain lake is known for its turquoise, iridescent waters, and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains year-round. Postcard-worthy doesn’t even cover it!

Situated in the heart of the Coast Mountains, Garibaldi is known across Canada and the world as one of the most scenic places in BC, according to Tourism Squamish. Its mountain vistas, glaciers, and alpine meadows set the scene for the ultimate summer staycation.

The peak of Mount Garibaldi towers at 2,678 metres above sea level, with over 90 km of established hiking trails to explore throughout the park.

As is the case for most of the park’s lakes, Garibaldi is glacier-fed, making it a great cold-plunging spot year-round. But if you can brave its cold waters, you’re in for a treat!

To access the lake, visitors can head to Rubble Creek Road, which also provides access to Black Tusk.

With trails ranging from ‘easy’ to ‘difficult,’ the lake area is at the heart of the provincial park, with nearby natural attractions including the Black Tusk, Panorama Ridge, Helm Glacier, the Sphinx, and Castle Towers.

Note that during the park’s busiest times, free day-use passes are required to visit Diamond Head, Rubble Creek, and Cheakamus trailheads.

So there you have it, BC – happy exploring!
