Another Long weekend is nearly here and you better believe there’s a whole lot to see and do! Before we jump into things, however, you’ll need to take note of a few things.

Open

Movie theatres

Want to catch a flick on Labour Day Monday? Landmark Cinemas and Cineplex theatres will all be open all weekend long.

Malls

Though we’d recommend checking their hours before heading out, Southcentre Mall, CrossIron MillsCF Chinook Centre, CF Market Mall and The CORE Shopping Centre will all be open on September 2nd.

The Landfill

Good news, errand-doers, the Landfill will also be open this year on Monday. Check out their hours here.

The Calgary Zoo

Lions and tigers and bears (oh my!) – The Calgary Zoo will also be open on Labour Day 2024!

Calgary-owned golf courses

FORE! Whether you were hoping to check out Maple Ridge or Lakeview, all Calgary-owned Calgary golf courses will also be open this Labour Day – Check out the link here to make a tee time now!

Calaway Park

Feeling adventurous? This upcoming long weekend, adrenaline-seekers and families looking to enjoy the sunshine can do so at Calaway Park between 10 am to 7 pm. Hold on tight and enjoy!

Grocery & Liquor Stores

Need to do a beer, hotdog or milk run? You’re in luck. Though (again) we’d recommend checking your local shop’s hours, most liquor and grocery stores will be open this Monday.

The Calgary Tower

Have family in town? This Labour Day, check out the Calgary Tower, grab a bite to eat at Sky 360 and enjoy!

Telus Spark

They say you should learn one thing a day – why not head to Telus Spark this Monday and have a blast while filling your brain with funky facts and educational films?

Heritage Park

Travel through time at Heritage Park! Open between 10 am and 5 pm, Calgarians can check out old-timey buildings, shops and carnival rides.

Calgary Transit

While transit will be operational on Monday, C-Trains, buses and On Demand transport will run on their Holiday schedule! For more information on fares, schedules and service changes, please visit their website.

City-Owned Recreational Facilities and Leisure Centres

Want to go for a swim? The following facilities will be closed on Labour Day. Others will be open with special hours.

Post Offices

Whether it’s an Amazon return or an invitation – it’ll have to wait! This Labour Day (and every stat holiday) the post office will be closed.

Costco

While grocery and convenience stores will be open this Friday, Costco will be closed this Labour Day Monday.

Othe Government. Offices

From the passport office to the DMV, all government offices will be closed on Labour Day.
