The Ontario real estate game can be a wild arena. Which is why one nearby homeowner is hoping to bypass it altogether. Reddit user u/Snailspaced took to the Internet this week to make an out-of-the-box proposition. A trade: their house in Hamilton for a condo in Toronto.

So here are the deets. Apparently, the house in Hamilton stands at 2.5 storeys. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large private backyard, renovated kitchen, large deck, 2 living rooms, heated floors, and a basement gym. That doesn’t sound too bad!

In exchange, the Reddit user is looking for a 2 bedroom condo in the downtown area; ideally 900+ square feet, in a good neighbourhood, and with views of the urban landscape. We can certainly think of plenty of properties that’d fit that description!

If it all works out, the original post states that the lawyers can sort out all the logistics. Although it’s certainly unusual, the offer is a chance to skip over the crazy bidding wars that go down whenever GTA properties hit the market.

The poster doesn’t go too in depth as to exactly why they’re hoping to make the trade. Just that circumstances have changed and they’ve decided to move back into the city.

So, if you’re the other half this bargain is searching for, be sure to hit them up on Reddit for all the info you need. The original post already has nearly 100 replies, so if you want to act you’ll have to act fast.
