A new restaurant from Tsukushinbo is open & here’s a look at the menu

Tsukshinbo was the Chinatown-International District (CID) destination for many Seattleites. Their small but cozy interior made for a great dining experience and their quality-focused menu made for an even better meal. Their closure was a hard one but promising as it meant opening the doors to two new spots. In some good food news, one of those spots, Onibaba is officially open. Let’s check it out.

Onibaba is simple, the new concept focuses on onigiri while incorporating the flavors of Tsukushinbo. That being said, the menu is larger than you might expect when a restaurant is mostly dedicated to one item.

The menu has of course onigiri, with flavors like salty salmon and salmon roe, Japanese-style fried chicken, and katsu. There are also veggie onigiri offerings with flavors like sour plum, pickled mustard greens, and marinated sweet kelp.

Besides the main focus, you can also get musubi, yaki onigiri, ochazuke, donburi, curry noodle, and small plates. Some of the small plate offerings include classics like edamame, seaweed salad, agedashi tofu, and more.
