This scenic lookout in Ontario stands 152 metres and overlooks a little village

Imagine getting cliffside views you don’t have to work for? We’re here for all of it! Old Baldy Conservation Area offers some of the most dramatic views of a beautiful valley, 152 metres above the Niagara Escarpment. You can also get amazing views of a little village below.

Located near Collingwood along the scenic Niagara Escarpment, this spot is about a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Toronto (depending on the time, of course)

You’ll find that it has some incredible vistas of the Beaver Valley.

All you have to do is embark on a lovely 15-minute hike from the parking lot, through fields and forests, ending right at the edge of the escarpment. Be sure to wear the right equipment, as it could be a little slippery when it snows.

This cliffside lookout is 152 metres high and offers valley views as far as the eye can see.

Village views

And to top it all off, you’ll also have a great view of the village of Kimberley from up here.

Kimberley is also home to another breathtaking lookout point, the Epping-John Muir Lookout Conservation Area, providing visitors with unforgettable panoramic views.

Anyway, back to good Old Baldy.

The conservation area has three short trails in total: Main Trail, Bruce Trail – Main Trail, and Bruce Trail – Side Trail.

They range from 1.2 km and 0.6 km in length.

“Past the beautiful panoramic views, there is a trail leading down to the base of the escarpment where you can find over 100 bolted climbing routes from beginner to expert,” shares Ontario Conservation Areas.

“Many of the routes are for moderate to advanced sport and traditional climbers, with most of them starting at the 5.10 level or higher.”

Though this might be an experience you’d want to enjoy in the warmer months. Bookmark it!

But do yourself a favour and enjoy this lovely site as soon as you can. Just make sure to watch your step and stay safe.
